Emery Soft Fruits is a family-run business, dedicated to cultivating high-quality soft fruit across 100 hectares to supply UK supermarkets. Producing hundreds of tonnes of premium strawberries and raspberries annually, Emery has established itself as a leader in the soft fruit industry.

What started as a small tomato grower in 1966 and eventually transitioning into growing soft fruit in 1994, Emery has since expanded its operations through three generations, from Hampshire and West Sussex into Portugal and South Africa with the acquisition of Karma Farming. As a founding member of Farm Fresh PO, Emery Soft Fruits is Red Tractor assured, LEAF accredited, and maintains a BRC Grade AA* packhouse, ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance in all their products.

Named Supermarket Floral and Plant Supplier of the Year at the 2025 FPC awards, Varfell Farms have been proudly growing daffodils since 1885.​ Situated on over 6,000 acres of Cornish land, Varfell produces over 500 million hand-picked daffodils, processes more than 10,000 tonnes of bulbs, and supplies 2 million stems of summer flowers each year to multiple major retailers.

Varfell remains committed to investing in the future of horticulture on a global scale, their recent expansion this summer has significantly enhanced operations with the addition of a new packhouse, dispatch area and cold storage facilities, reaffirming their position as the largest grower and distributor of daffodils worldwide.

Newey

Newey stands as a market leader in supplying ornamentals to high street retail, DIY stores and garden centres. Specialising in perennial plugs and liners for the UK wholesale grower’s market, Newey partners with a network of breeders to provide exclusive genetics to brighten up people’s homes and gardens. 

With operations spanning 21 sites across the Midlands, West Sussex, and Portugal, the company boasts over 200 acres worldwide, dedicated to commercial horticultural production. Each year, Newey produces approximately 200 million plants, shrubs, and trees, cultivated across 55 acres of advanced automated glasshouses, 6 acres of polytunnels and a further 4 acres of outdoor growing space in the UK.  Additional capacity includes 30 acres of external growing areas and polytunnels. 

Newlands Butterlees Tree Park encompasses an additional 20 acres, 10 acres dedicated to tree production, holding up to 100,000 container-grown trees and features a 5,700 cubic meter reservoir across another 4 acres, alongside plans for an additional 6 acres of Multispan polythene structures.

Their orchards, planted between 2005 and 2021, are rooted in tradition and innovation. They cultivate ten high-quality varieties with new plantings on the horizon and exciting varieties in development - continually exploring new horizons in sustainable cherry farming. Using precision agriculture, they grow top-quality fruit while caring for the land and their neighbours.

Norton’s dedicated teams achieve an impressive average of 50 tonnes of cherries picked daily, resulting in an remarkable total of around 1,000 tonnes across the season. Each cherry reflects the passion and precision that underpins their entire process - from meticulous planning to careful harvesting. From orchard to punnet, every piece of fruit embodies a story of teamwork, dedication, and a shared pursuit of excellence for their customers.

Karma

One of South Africa’s leading premium soft fruit growers, optimising sustainable technologies for responsible farming.

Karma Farming, part of Emery Soft Fruits, is a dedicated producer of premium soft fruits, with an annual yield of over 400 tonnes of strawberries and 700 tonnes of raspberries. Situated in the heart of South Africa’s Garden Route, the farm spans 20 hectares of cultivated land, supported by three indoor nurseries and two accretion areas and facilities equipped with advanced Nettajet overhead and drip nutrition systems, with infrastructure in place to support future expansion.

Since partnering with Emery Soft Fruits, Karma Farming has significantly expanded its planted area, with additional land planned for growth. All cropping zones are now protected by poly tunnels, optimising growing conditions and safeguarding fruit quality. 

The farm’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in investment in innovative technologies, integration of solar power, reverse osmosis water treatment plant and rainwater harvesting system, which returns water to on-site dams for reuse in irrigation. These initiatives support the farm’s mission to operate efficiently, responsibly, and with a clear vision for the future of soft fruit production in South Africa.
