Their orchards, planted between 2005 and 2021, are rooted in tradition and innovation. Norton’s dedicated teams achieve an impressive average of 50 tonnes of cherries picked daily, resulting in an remarkable total of around 1,000 tonnes across the season. Karma Farming, part of Emery Soft Fruits, is a dedicated producer of premium soft fruits, with an annual yield of over 400 tonnes of strawberries and 700 tonnes of raspberries. Situated in the heart of South Africa’s Garden Route, the farm spans 20 hectares of cultivated land, supported by three indoor nurseries and two accretion areas and facilities equipped with advanced Nettajet overhead and drip nutrition systems, with infrastructure in place to support future expansion.

Since partnering with Emery Soft Fruits, Karma Farming has significantly expanded its planted area, with additional land planned for growth. All cropping zones are now protected by poly tunnels, optimising growing conditions and safeguarding fruit quality. 

The farm’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in investment in innovative technologies, integration of solar power, reverse osmosis water treatment plant and rainwater harvesting system, which returns water to on-site dams for reuse in irrigation. These initiatives support the farm’s mission to operate efficiently, responsibly, and with a clear vision for the future of soft fruit production in South Africa.
