In celebration of National Tree Week, Newey Ltd has donated a Prunus ‘Snow Showers’ ornamental cherry to North Mundham Primary School near Chichester.
Aligned with this year’s theme, “A Future Filled With Trees,” the donation aims to inspire students to learn about trees’ role in the environment, how they provide habitats for wildlife, and how to care for their new tree. John Hedger, Newey’s Commercial Manager, visited the school to present the tree and speak with students about planting and stewardship.
The Prunus ‘Snow Showers’ was chosen for its graceful weeping form and seasonal interest - white blossom in spring, lush summer foliage and vivid autumn colour - offering a feature the school community can enjoy for generations.
The donation follows a significant year for Newey, with the opening of their new Butterlees Tree Park this summer, a facility holding100,000 container-grown trees supported by a 5,700‑cubic‑metre reservoir. The school planting is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and local engagement.
