The recognition marks a significant milestone for the series, with judges highlighting its strong garden performance, compact growth habit and long flowering period - qualities that continue to resonate with both growers and retailers.
Building on this success, Newey will be showcasing the award-winning variety at the upcoming HTA National Plant Show, taking place at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, on 17–18 June. Visitors to the stand will have the opportunity to see Hydrangea ‘Ruby’ first-hand, alongside the wider Groundbreaker® collection, and explore its commercial potential within retail and production programmes.
The Chelsea Flower Show recognition has already generated significant industry interest, positioning the Groundbreaker® series as a standout offering for the season ahead. Its combination of reliability, visual appeal and ease of production makes it particularly well suited to modern garden centre demand.
At the National Plant Show, Newey will present the award-winning hydrangea as part of a broader showcase of new and existing varieties, reinforcing its focus on quality, innovation and performance-led growing solutions.
A key highlight for this year's event will be the presence of Newey's long-standing partners, Vitroflora, who will be joining the team throughout the two-day show.
Vitroflora's specialists will provide visitors with valuable technical advice and product expertise across the perennial plug range, offering guidance on variety selection, production planning and growing performance.
