Emery Launches New Biodiversity Initiative with Bug Hotels to Support Pollinators and Ecosystem Health
Emery is proud to announce the launch of a new environmental initiative aimed at supporting biodiversity and promoting sustainable farming practices: Emery’s Bug Hotels.
These purpose-built structures are designed to provide safe, sheltered habitats for a wide range of beneficial insects - the often-overlooked champions of our ecosystem. From pollinators like bees and butterflies to decomposers and natural pest controllers, insects play a vital role in maintaining healthy soil, vibrant plant life, and balanced ecosystems.
“At Emery, we understand the critical role insects play in the success of our crops. Our bees, for example, are essential in helping our berries grow big, juicy, and full of flavour. By creating dedicated spaces for these insects to thrive, we’re investing in the long-term health of our farms and the environment.” .” — James Emery, Managing Director – Emery Soft Fruits.
Strategically placed across Emery’s farms, the bug hotels offer nesting sites and shelter for a variety of species, helping to combat the decline in insect populations and enhance natural biodiversity. The initiative reflects Emery’s ongoing commitment to sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship.
This low-maintenance, high-impact project is a reminder that even small actions can contribute to big environmental goals. By supporting the insects that support us, Emery continues to cultivate not just quality produce, but a healthier planet.
