Greosn – sustainable-responsible-fair

In greenhouses, on farms or in our packhouses, our ethos is the same. We are committed to the long-term preservation of our planet and to treat people fairly and with respect.

Crops are grown on our farms using regenerative farming techniques. We pay special attention to our agronomy with the aim of improving the biology of the soil. To aid this we have long and diverse rotations and use plenty of cover and companion crops.

In our greenhouse production facilities, we are very conscious of our carbon footprint and monitor usage of fossil fuels closely. We replace with renewable sources where possible. To further aid this initiative all of our greenhouses are equipped with thermal and heavy shade screens to help minimise energy consumption. We are forerunners in driving the peat free campaign, substituting with Coir where possible. We have reduced our peat consumption by 70%.

We harvest and use hundreds of millions of litres of rainwater each year and we recycle more than 100 tonnes of plastic and cardboard annually.

Our vision is to be recognised as an employer of choice. We aim to put people first in all that we do. Our policies outline our commitments to ensuring that the business operations reflect the latest in best practice. Our policies are owned by senior management and firmly embedded into the business at all levels through our training programmes.

We also understand that we have a duty to respect the human rights of all individuals within our supply chain, not just those working directly within our organisation.  We are committed to identifying and tackling exploitation of workers within our supply chain and work with likeminded organisations towards reducing and eliminating this threat in the UK.

At Greosn we are members of communities and will always try to be good and thoughtful neighbours. We will create local employment where we are working and will always try to act responsibly whilst recognising that we need to keep our business viable and competitive. We will give back to projects, charities and enlightened initiatives where and when we can. We will encourage and support our colleagues who do the same.
